"Life has been a gong show ever since my mom passed away. First my mom, then my cardiac alert dog then a dog I wished to adopt bit me on the face/nose. That was a fiasco of giant screw ups by institution after institution. The health department wanted me to take the rabies series but they couldn't get accommodation for my POTS or Mast Cell Activation at either medical facility with which our Health Department is contracted. It has been such a crazy mess. All the weather changes and the clouds of smoke haven't helped. Pretty much a dumpster fire. BUT I AM fighting back. I've made a complaint about the failure to accommodate my disability, I've also made a complaint about the ER at my local hospital they say they'll investigate. I was treated like an hysteric for coming into the hospital which is what I was told to do by the nurse at the 24 hour hotline at my health insurance company. No one with Chronic Illness should be treated like I was... have been. I'm going to make this event and the loss of my beloved dog count for something.

  1. I'll be speaking to our village Mayor who is on the County Board of Legislators about making exceptions for extraordinary circumstances. I can't be the only person who has issues of this nature. She's got a grandson with health issues so she understands that the path to health and safety can be a bumpy ride.

Thanks for all your encouragement. I'll make every effort to keep the group updated on the fight for accommodation.

  2. , I'm sorry to hear there have been no accommodations made - that is infuriating. Have you tried contacting state legislators to see if they can be of any help?

I'm sorry to hear about the little dog, especially when people are probably the reason he had a fear response :-/ I'm glad you are going to look for another companion. I know that Ginger Pye (Love the name <3) will help guide the perfect fur-friend to you. Let us know when you do. - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)

  3. So far no accommodation for the rabies series. It's pretty clear that they really have no clue what to do with me and I'm not the only woman over 40 in this town to be diagnosed with POTS. I met another lady. Though she really wasn't comfortable discussing her illness with someone else. I was fine with that... we all cope in our own way. The dog was adopted from the shelter and was tiny so the bite was contained to a small area and was up on all his shots. Sadly I was the second person he bit so he had to be put down as a dangerous dog. I'm going to see another dog at the humane society. Can't let an incident steal the possibility of training another cardiac alert dog and companion. We had Ginger Pye for 12 years. I was very lucky.

  4. , (((hugs))), my heart aches for you. I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend and companion, your pain is palpable. I'm sending love and light.

I am glad to hear that you are advocating hard for yourself. It's a shame that we need to, but it is an act of bravery to not allow them to shovel you under the carpet, and future patients.

Have they tested for rabies? I hope you get accommodation to receive the preventative care you need. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are. - Warmly, Donna (Team Member)
