"UPDATE on the dog bite, my new BFF, and my determination to fight the banal politics to advocate for real change. I have a legacy to leave behind me because I have a daughter who is mildly autistic. In my opinion the treatment I received... or should I say didn't receive after the dog bite to the face was not only lackluster it borderlined on the criminal. I'm going to make sure everyone who is involved feels it. If I'd have gone into that hospital as a 50 year old man with a bleeding face from a dog bite do you think they would have treated me with such disrespect? No they wouldn't have, but because they had absolutely no clue what to do with me they left me to take care of myself and hope I didn't contract a life ending disease from a dog. Yes luckily the dog had its rabies shot but that's no guarantee. The establishment medical center, more concerned with whether I fit into a politically sensitive group did an "investigation" offering the classic non-apology apology. They went over wound care with the nursing staff but not ONE word about the doctor who would barely touch me even with a gloved hand. So I go on to talk to the county board and the insurance company. No one else should have to suffer because they have a rare disease.
Meanwhile I did adopt a beautiful Ibizan Hound/Boston Bull Terrier mix from the Humane Society. She's feisty. 😀

I find that if I just say "out loud", if you will, what I plan to do to advocate for myself it makes me stronger and gives me the courage to move forward.
