"2 things as a POTSIE with MCAS, bilateral peripheral neuropathy from Celiac disease. 1 on May 12 I broke my ankle. IT HURT A LOT and I almost passed out. On May 29 I had Open Reduction Internal Fracture repair of 3 bones. (and I have 3 broken metatarsals...) I have 1 plate and 10 screws holding the bones in my ankle in place. I went through 2 splints and now I'm wearing an Airsoft boot. TWO: I SPOKE UP FOR MYSELF! As someone with neurodiversity I had to say. Nope I can't do that. I can't look at the wound on my leg from the surgery. Not yet, I'm not ready. I told them I would be bringing a long aids that would help shield me from having to see it and I'm positive I looked silly but I didn't FEEL silly. I've got hyperphantasia... mental imagery that is highly tuned and very cinematic. I knew if I saw the ankle I wouldn't be able to forget it. I needed to wait until I was emotionally ready. Now I simply stop people from describing things that are just to much. I'm getting better at describing myself and my particular needs.

  1. I think it is going well actually. I'm seeing less swelling every day. I was able to look at 1 small set of stitches so I'm getting mentally stronger too.

  2. , I know you mentioned your broken ankle and surgery previously. How has the healing process been going? I hope it's healing up pretty well.

And you should be proud of yourself for advocating for yourself and doing what you needed to do to avoid seeing your healing surgical site. And I am so glad you didn't feel silly. You were doing what was right for YOU and that's what matters!
