Do you allow your child with a rare disease to go on overnight school field trips?

If so, what tips have worked for you and your child? How did you prepare your child and yourself for this experience? Please share your insights or personal anecdotes below.

  1. my experience may be a bit different as my overnight field trips were in high school when I traveled with my choir group to NYC for competitions. I was fortunate though that before that, I had already started attending The Youth Rally for teens with bladder/bowel dysfunction and disorders. My parents helped prepare me for it by making sure I had a way to reach them, plenty of my medical supplies, and currency. When I was younger, my mom would talk to the parents of friends I was going to be with to make sure they treated me well and listened to me if I said I needed something

    1. Thank you so much for sharing! I’m sure that your parents guided you well and helped you prepare to take care of your health at an early age. My daughter had a positive experience and now I feel a lot better about her going on a trip.

    2. Oh that's so great! I'm glad that not only that your daughter had a good experience but that you also feel more comfortable, both things are important!
