Environmental Allergies Or No

I'm dealing with something very weird. This is the 3rd time in the last 5 years or so. I have seen an Allergist, a ENT doctor, did many tests and no one can help me. Now it's back. I get a chronic cough as if I'm being choked from the inside. It's like straight pins poking me way back in my throat. This cough gets so hard and intense, you start to urinate on yourself, your eyes water, you get dizzy along with a few other things. The only thing that would help is if my doctor gives me a steroid shot. It takes it away in about an hour. You can only have so many of those. I have a new doctor and I tried to tell him this is the only thing that works. He's telling me to try this or that and I already know this won't help. I can't workabd cough like this. Has anyone else every heard of this. We think it's environmental because certain fumes like strong paint will do it. I also came in contact with preservatives that was shipped to my company and the powder spilled out and I cleaned it up. I need help to finally keep this from happening, it's taking over my life and I just been suffering. Any ideas on what else I could try.

  1. So sorry to hear that you are struggling with these chronic coughing symptoms! Chronic coughs can be so difficult to live with. It sounds like your doctor is simply treating the symptoms rather than trying to find the root cause. Have you had a chest X-ray or any other diagnostics done for this chronic cough of yours? Chronic coughs can be caused by many possible sources, including viral or bacterial infections, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), or can even be symptomatic of heart disease. I'd recommend continuing to connect with your doctor about the source of this cough, and if you are unable to get answers, it might be a good idea to get a second opinion from another medical professional. Take care of yourself and thank you for reaching out! Please let us know if anything changes or you find any answers. Warmest regards, Tatiana (raredisease.net Team Member)

    1. Hi , while you're waiting for feedback from the community, I thought I'd share this resource that I hope may be helpful: https://allergyasthmanetwork.org/allergies/how-are-allergies-diagnosed/. It has a questionnaire that you can take to your doctor. - Warmly, Donna (team member)
