I have low/normal pressure juvenile onset open angle glaucoma that was ~11 years late diagnosed. It’s medication resistant and my next option seems to be surgical intervention but the idea terrifies me. I haven’t been able to work in a few months and am in the SSI pipeline due to how aggressive the vision degeneration has been. I generally do not qualify for clinical trials because I’m 31 and was diagnosed at 19, and most are for adults over 65 and a lot of juvenile glaucoma info is targeted at under the age of 18. Has anyone else had experience with this? Any advice? Does surgery help?
